Unix Timestamp Converter
Convert Unix timestamps to human-readable dates — in UTC and your local timezone — or turn a date back into epoch time.
Timestamp → date
Date → timestamp
How it works
Unix time counts the seconds elapsed since 00:00:00 UTC on 1 January 1970 (the epoch) — a single number that unambiguously identifies a moment, which is why databases, APIs, and log files love it. Human dates, by contrast, depend on timezones: the same instant is a different clock time in Chicago than in London. This converter shows both: the UTC rendering, which is identical everywhere on Earth, and your browser's local rendering. Values with 13 or more digits are treated as milliseconds (the unit JavaScript's Date uses internally); anything smaller is read as seconds. Going the other way, pick a local date and time and get the epoch seconds back — handy for building API queries and expiry timestamps.
