How it works

Markdown is a shorthand for HTML: # marks headings, **stars** mean bold, *stars* mean italic, and lines starting with - or 1. become lists. This preview converts those markers to real HTML as you type — fenced code blocks and inline code spans are lifted out first so their contents are never mistaken for formatting. Security comes before rendering: your raw HTML is escaped first, so a pasted <script> tag displays as harmless text instead of executing, and links are restricted to safe schemes (https, http, mailto) with anything else neutralized. What you see is exactly what the generated HTML contains.
