How it works

Your course grade is a weighted average: current × (1 − w) + final × w, where w is the final’s weight as a decimal. Solving that equation for the final gives final = (desired − current×(1−w)) / w. With an 85% average and a 30%-weighted final, reaching 90% requires about 101.7% on the final — the calculator flags anything over 100% so you know when a target is out of reach and can aim for the next realistic grade instead.
